Makalu Travels Work History
1996
Started career as travel professional
Mr. Kiran Sharma started his career as the operation manager with Regal Excursion in the year 1994. His responsibilities included organizing the treks, mobilizing the ground staffs & taking care of logistics for the trekkers that came to Nepal in the early 90s. Due to the lack of internet & email facilities in Nepal at that time, all communications were made through phone calls & fax which made managing little details a mammoth task. He left the company as the General Manager.
1998
Established a Travel Company in Kathmandu
Mr. Sharma always had the intention of growing the tourism industry in Nepal and creating employment opportunity for the locals. In the year 1998, Mr. Sharma started a partnership and formed a new company in Kathmandu with the name Makalu Adventure Travels & Tours.
1999
Lions Club International membership
Mr. Kiran Sharma got elected as a full time member of lions club International
2001
Received outstanding Lions club president award
Ex US Ambassador to Nepal, His Excellency Mr. Michael Malinowski honored Mr. Kiran Sharma with the outstanding lions club president award.
2011
Makalu Travels & Tours established in USA
With 15+ years of knowledge & experience, Mr. Kiran Sharma established Makalu Travels & Tours in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA with a motive to connect the western world with the majestic Himalayan region of Asia.
2013
Registered branch office established in Nepal
To better serve the growing numbers of travelers interested in trekking the Himalayan region of Nepal. Makalu Travels USA established a branch office in Kathmandu, Nepal. With the physical presence in Nepal, the quality of service grew substantially as each trips were locally monitored and supported 24/7 by the hardworking ground team.
2014
Registered an office in Canada
Officially established a branch office in Canada.
2015
Established a partnership in Bhutan
With this partnership in Bhutan, Makalu Travels was able to ensure the best service for all the travelers visiting the only carbon negative country in the world!
2015
Established a partnership in India
Makalu Travel registered a footstep in India with a motive to let the western travelers experience the sumptuous mix of traditions, spiritual beliefs, festivals, architecture and landscapes that India has to offer.
2015
Partnered with the Lions Club for the International Convention in Hawaii
Makalu Travels was involved in the Lions Club International Convention in Hawaii and was responsible For providing the travel & logistic support for the international participants.
2016
Appointed as the Honorary Tourism Ambassador
In recognition of the continuous contribution & support to the tourism sector in Nepal, the government of Nepal appointed Mr. Kiran Sharma as the Honorary Tourism Ambassador for the state of Nevada, USA
2017
Partnered with the Lions Club for the International Convention in Chicago
Makalu Travels was once again selected as travel and logistic support provider for yet another Lions Club international Convention held in Chicago, USA
2018
Partnered with the Lions Club for the International Convention in Las Vegas
Yet another milestone for Makalu Travels for being selected as the travel and logistic support provider for Lions Club international Convention held in Las Vegas, USA.
2018
Featured in the book “Nepali Who is Who in the USA “
Mr. Kiran Sharma was featured in the book “Nepali Who is Who in the USA “as the first generation of influential Nepali in Tourism sector who has worked hard enough to become an inspiration for the upcoming generation of Nepali immigrants in the USA.
2019
Partnered with ANMA and hosted AMNS Conference 2019 in Pokhara, Nepal.
With over 200 participants including world renowned mathematicians and professors from more than 15 countries, Second International Conference on Applications of Mathematics to Nonlinear Sciences (AMNS-2019) held at Pokhara (June 27 - 30) was a great success. Makalu Travels was the official travel & logistic partner for the event and we feel proud being a part of such grand event. Makalu Travels was entrusted with responsibility to host and arrange the whole event and also take care of accommodations, ground/air-transfers, recreational activities and post-conference tours & treks.
2019
Partnered with Brainmodes.org for upcoming conference in December 2019 in Pokhara, Nepal.
Makalu Travel will be hosting upcoming brainmodes.org conference titled “Unified Principles of Brain Connectivity and Dynamics” to be held in Pokhara in December 2020. Makalu Travels will be responsible for hosting and arranging the whole event and also making all necessary travel arrangements for world renowned scholars and scientists along with 100+ participants from around the world.
