Nagarkot is the nearest viewpoint in the Kathmandu valley. We reach Nagarkot by passing through the “city of devotees” Bhaktapur. Located 32 km east of Kathmandu, it is known for hosting the best sunrise and sunset views of Nepal. The scenic beauty of this location makes it a popular hiking route for tourists.
Nagarkot offers the broadest views of the Himalayas in Kathmandu valley. it showcases the views of 8 Himalayan ranges of Nepal. The ranges include the likes of Langtang range, Annapurna range, Manaslu range, Ganesh Himal range, Mahalangur range, Number range, Rolwaling range, Jugal range, Langtang range among the 13 ranges that Nepal possesses.
Nagarkot is packed with hotels, stacked up on a ridge facing the views of the snow-capped perfect peaks. Its strategic location makes it even more alluring. Nagarkoteas previously an ancient fort built to monitor external activities. Time at this international hill station is surely well spent and refreshing. 1-hour drive.
Changunarayan is located on the uphill of Changu and it is considered as one of the ancient Hindu temples in the world. It also provides a view of the different Himalayan ranges of Nepal. Built in the pagoda style, the temple is guarded by the elephants, lions and winged lions. Vishnu as the creator of life is the statue present inside the temple.
